HM 270 Air-Operated Impulse Turbine Print page
Technical Description

DATA SHEET UNDER REVISION!

This demonstration unit is part of an equipment series that facilitated investigations on pneumatically driven turbines. On the HM 270 unit, the characteristic behaviour of an impulse turbine can be investigated. For exact measurements, the table unit is equipped with electronic sensors for recording temperature, speed and torque, the values recorded are indicated on digital displays. Inlet and outlet pressure at the turbine are indicated on easy to read dial instruments. The flow rate in the system is measured with a variable-area flowmeter. For the operation of the unit, a mains connection and a compressed air connection are required.

Learning Objectives / Experiments
Determination of power as a function of volumetric flow rate, pressure and speed
Recording of torque characteristic
Determination of the turbine efficiency
Partial pressurisation (nozzle group circuit)
